The Region 9 Economic Development District of SW Colorado (Region 9) nominated Senator Michael F. Bennet (D-CO) for a 2012 Congressional Partnership Award for outstanding leadership in promoting federal community, economic, and infrastructure development programs.
“Senator Bennet was honored for his leadership on the Farm bill, and receptiveness to southwest Colorado’s concerns regarding regional broadband efforts and transportation,” said Laura Lewis Marchino, assistant director of Region 9.
The biennial awards from the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO), recognizes members of Congress that have displayed strong support of regional development polices. Winners were selected based on their support of NADO’s national legislative priorities, such as increased funding for the Economic Development Administration (EDA), and other federal community and economic development programs, strengthening the role of rural local officials in transportation planning, as well as supporting the work of regional development organizations at the local level.
Senator Bennet will be presented with his award during his next visit to southwest Colorado.
